The pressure is growing
What happened so far:
Jonas Keller, co-owner of the restaurant “Frost & Flamme,” prepares for an important Christmas dinner with prominent guests, while feeling the pressure that a single mistake could ruin everything. During a charity dinner, his partner presents their joint Christmas hit, which torments Jonas every year. After an incident that leads to the presence of forensic investigators, Jonas reflects on the night when the song ended abruptly and realizes that he must maintain his facade in order not to lose everything.
The office suddenly looked like a stage after the premiere: costumes still above the backs of chairs, props carelessly in corners, the air heavy with something that couldn't be named. Jonas sat behind the desk, the shutters half closed, as if less light could mean fewer questions.
The police had left. For the time being. They had left him friendly forms, polite requests for documents, a list of appointments. The word "cooperation" has been used several times. It sounded like a promise and a threat at the same time.
E-mails flashed on the screen. Cancellations, worried inquiries, a statement lawyer who advised him "urgently to exercise restraint". An investor wanted to know how severe the damage to the image would be. Another was already asking about "strategic options" – as if the death of his partner was above all a shift in the figures.
A soft whirring sound came from the dining room. Someone from the technical department tested the system, pulled cables, checked speakers. A short excerpt of the song flickered through the wall, breaking after a few seconds. Still too much.
Jonas closed his eyes. The jingle was more than music. It was the record of years of humiliation, the soundtrack of an ego that had never been his.
Now the stage was empty. And for the first time in all these years, the question arose as to whether he would keep her – or fall with her.
